Over the last few weeks, cases of H1N1 (swine flu) have been documented in a ferret and, most recently, a 13-year-old cat! In both cases, the owners had been sick with flu-like symptoms and it was believed that the infection spread from human to pet. Find out more and how to

I have written once about these great doggie treats and just decided that it was time to write about them again. These treats are excellent with a grain free version available as well.
But the story behind these treats is a very dear tale. The owner of the Waggin’ Tails Treats made these treats for her dog Willow who was much loved but she was diagnosed with incurable cancer. She had a mass in a very bad area and she needed to have a biopsy right away. This was in 2001. So the news was that Wil…

We noticed a few fleas on our dog today. I called the vet to see what might be available under our
Medical insurance. They gave us a pill called Comfotis, K9. It kills the fleas within 30 minutes and lasts for 30 days. I did not know that there was something like this. It cost $17.

The controversy continues about whether to let your kitties outdoors. Recently, more research confirms two disturbing statistics about cats who roam:
- They kill a huge amount of birds, especially fledglings
- Their own life spans are considerably shortened over those of indoor cats
Wherever you stand on the issue of letting cats run free, your decision should weigh that information. The New York Times just published…

I have been thinking about the way that pets are used to help those having surgery. When my son had a procedure last year, they used a dog to help calm him down so they could start the IV. I think it is great how animals are used in this way. To see a child who is scared to death because he is having an
Angioplasty crack a smile is worth its weight in gold.
Use more animals in this way!

We are considering taking our cockapoo to Europe. She has a number of health problems and we were wondering what sort of medical care would be available there. We also received a
Travel insurance quote in case something happened in transit. Do you know what a fair price might be for a two week trip?

CATegories
Your relationship with your cat will prosper if you understand your cat to be more than just fur and flesh. If you consider your cat to be an actual consciousness, you will open yourself to more rewarding experiences for both you and your pet, and you will assist in bringing out the highest potential of that loving being who you share your life with.
The following Cat CATegories will help to define the focus that your cat was borne with. Note that three of the categories suggest tha…

This amazing lady in South Africa helps people who are at the edge of survival. Even in extreme poverty, most will feed their pets before they feed themselves. When it comes to veterinary care, though, even if they had the money to pay, there are virtually no services available. Cora Bailey provides this help through her non-profit organization, and selflessly devotes herself to animals and people who are often forgotten.…
