Profile Information

About me:
Here's the story about why I started Pet Health Focus:

My beautiful black Lab, Keetna, was very ill and was diagnosed with diabetes. She went through many rough patches before she stabilized, and I thought I would lose her. During this time, I started to research canine diabetes, and was surprised at how little information was available, even on the Internet. So I dove in and worked with veterinarians and the CSU veterinary college to figure out how to care for my wonderful companion.

I grew much closer to my dog, with intuition being my best guide to helping her. Awakening that intuition was like coming home; it opened the door to studying with several spiritual mentors and discovering a new path in life.

In 2007 I started Pet Health Focus (http://www.pethealthfocus.com), a growing online community for "pet people." I also help people and animals with intuitive counseling, individual coaching and workshops.

--------------------------------------------------------

Animal Communication

I can help you communicate with the animals in your life to learn about their behavior, health, and other issues. Together we will learn what's happening for your pets, how they are reacting, and what you can do to help them.

I've learned to communicate intuitively with people and animals through studying with healers and working with clients. I'm completing my studies under Kelly Ballard's Light Worker certification program. An important part of completing my certification is to offer free sessions to hone my intuitive skills.

I have five free sessions still available. By allowing me to help you, you also help me reach an important goal.

To contact me, send me a message through this page (below my photo) or e-mail me at: acasey @ pethealthfocus.com (remove the spaces).

Workshops I offer:

Your Intuitive Nature
An introductory course on discovering your intuition through your connection with animals. Come explore the connection you have always had with animals - discover your animal totems and spirit guides, and what different animals mean in your life.

Animal Communication
You have a special bond with animals - not just the pets in your house, but that fox you saw last week, and the birds and raccoons in your yard. You want to know what your pets are thinking, feeling, needing. Discover your natural-born ability to communicate with animals. We'll learn how to get grounded and then "get out of our minds" to get into the animals' way of understanding the world.

If you're interested in these workshops, write to me and I'll let you know the current schedule or we can set up another workshop.

Custom Flower Essence Remedies

Dogs and cats respond easily to the gentle support of flower essences. These natural remedies cannot harm your pets, but help support them in whatever is happening in their lives right now. Remedies help animals with anxiety, illness, travel, behavior issues, and even the transition from this world to the next.

Administer 4 drops of flower essence remedy into your pet's water each day. A vial of Flower Essence remedy costs $12.00.

Please contact me for more information.
About my pets:
Through Keetna's struggle with diabetes and other health issues, she was my constant companion and motivator. She passed away last August, but lives on as my inspiration to help people understand and care for animals.

Grateful for Thanksgiving!

Thanksgiving gives us a whole day to focus just on gratitude. For me, gratitude is where it all starts - balance, peace, freedom, joy, and most of all, love.

I invite you to start this Thanksgiving to thank the people and pets in your life for their love and companionship. To give thanks for the food you eat and the place you live. For beauty in all its… Continue

Save the birds! Keep your cats indoors...

The controversy continues about whether to let your kitties outdoors. Recently, more research confirms two disturbing statistics about cats who roam:

  • They kill a huge amount of birds, especially fledglings

  • Their own life spans are considerably shortened over those of indoor cats

Wherever you stand on the issue of letting cats run free, your decision should weigh that information. The New York Times just published… Continue

Woman helps poorest South Africans care for their pets

This amazing lady in South Africa helps people who are at the edge of survival. Even in extreme poverty, most will feed their pets before they feed themselves. When it comes to veterinary care, though, even if they had the money to pay, there are virtually no services available. Cora Bailey provides this help through her non-profit organization, and selflessly devotes herself to animals and people who are often forgotten.… Continue

Is your dog smarter than your kid?

An article published by MSNBC points to research that studied the smarts of different canine breeds. Some especially bright pooches, such as border collies, poodles and German shepherds ranked among the smartest. According to a language development test, the researches say that dogs can learn between 165 and 250 words, which ranks up there to a two-year-old… Continue

I must accept that Spot has moved on. I am doing well from my stroke, living in Houston with my mother and working on moving forward.

Hi Amy!
Hershey is doing okay. He's still pretty sluggish and slow. We found one of his large teeth in on our bathroom floor the other day. Yikes. We are taking him in this week to have his blood checked and check on his progress. :)

I hope you and Tom had a FABULOUS weekend!

Hi Amy ~ good luck with your website. I can tell you it's a huge 24/7 job. Lots to learn. People are close to their pets and I'm sure you will get many loving people here.

More pet owners need to learn about homeopathic care for themselves and their pets. They also need to learn how to deal with vaccinations and side-effects.

Totally enjoyed your radio audio show on your page. Makes me want to snuggle up with kitties.

Hey Amy! I'm glad you sent me a message because I've been thinking about sending you one. I'm in recovery from a long semester, but I'm getting back to normal, whatever that is! We are enjoying the onset of great weather and starting to think about what we want to do this summer. Still not sure when we'll make it to Colorado (maybe early July). How's life for you?

Thanks! Been having lots of fun with my terriers - and my 3-year old just finished a high school production of Annie. Lots of training, but great fun! Never thought he'd be able to go onstage alone, sit on a mark, wait for the actors, and then behave nicely while everyone jumped, danced, and sang around him! New respect for acting dogs!

Amy,
We miss the regular newsletters. Please put us back on the list, if we're off. We're facing end of life issues with Ellie; she's got a thymoma cancer and we opted for no invasive treatment. She still wags her tail and has love in her eyes, but she's way slowed down. We often think of you guys and he memories you must have of Keetna. Somehow, our dogs wriggle their way into our heart and refuse to leave, don't they?
